The pterygoid implant is designed specifically for implant needs in the posterior maxilla under conditions of extreme bone deficiency. Its unique tapered structure can be used together with the dedicated pterygoid osteotomy drill, enabling smooth placement with a “single-drill preparation,” greatly improving surgical efficiency.
The implant features a 4 mm smooth collar, which allows for crestal or partially supracrestal placement at different angulations, facilitating abutment seating, soft-tissue sealing, and long-term hard-tissue stability. The 2 mm apical inner diameter design enables bicortical engagement in the pterygoid–palatine hard bone area without repeated expansion or stepwise preparation, enhancing primary stability while maximizing the avoidance of sinus penetration and vascular injury.
The implant has a total length of 18 mm, is equipped with a self-tapping large-thread design that provides excellent primary stability, and is compatible with Nobel Biocare restorative components, offering clinicians more flexible and reliable restorative options.
