The shielding screw for bone augmentation was co-developed by Dr Jun Li and DentalMaster.
This innovation simplifies bone augmentation procedures. The SSBA concept replaces the traditional autogenous bone plate with a shielding screw, which is filled with 100% autogenous bone chips. While maintaining the same biological principles, this approach makes autogenous bone grafting techniques simpler, more efficient, and easier to perform clinically.

Available Head Diameter Options for Different GBR Applications
The Shielding Screw is offered in 5 mm and 8 mm head diameter options to accommodate different guided bone regeneration (GBR) requirements. The 5 mm option provides a cap diameter range of 5–8 mm for precise fixation in limited augmentation spaces, while the 8 mm option provides an 8–10 mm cap diameter range for broader membrane stabilization and graft material protection.

Clinical Applications:
- Space Maintenance in GBR: Acts as a “tent pole” to support the membrane and bone graft, preventing soft tissue collapse and ensuring a tension-free space for optimal bone volume gain.
- Horizontal & Vertical Ridge Augmentation: The flexible design allows for precise contouring in complex 3D bone defects, facilitating anatomical restoration.
- The tenting screws can be used together with our instrument kit. When using our GBR All-in-One Surgical Kit, the tenting screws, bone screws, and membrane tacks work together to assist you in completing bone augmentation procedures.
Shielding Screw Technique for H5 Horizontal Bone Defects in the Anterior Maxilla
In this video demonstration, Dr. Jun Li showcases the Shielding Screw Technique for the treatment of H5 horizontal bone defects in the anterior maxilla. Learn how the Shielding Screw, developed based on the SSBA concept, serves as an innovative alternative to traditional autogenous bone plates, enabling clinicians to work with autogenous bone chips while maintaining biological principles for guided bone regeneration (GBR).
